Hibs won their third successive match - their best spell for a year - but had to withstand a second-half onslaught from Inverness Caledonian Thistle before securing the three points.
Goals in the first five minutes from Colin Nish and Steven Fletcher proved to be enough to secure victory in a free-flowing game.
Hibs could scarcely had made a better start. Merouane Zemmama put Nish through on Michael Fraser and the striker had time to look up and pick his spot before slotting it past the goalkeeper from 16 yards.
If that was a simple goal, then the second - just a couple of minutes later, was even easier. Caley Thistle were again caught short-handed at the back and Guillaume Beuzelin cut the ball back for Fletcher to drill home the second.
Inverness looked stunned but took the game to Hibs after that in a bid to claw their way back into things. Marius Niculae came close to pulling a goal back after a great knock-down from Graham Bayne but his shot was just a yard too high.
The Romanian striker was prepared to try his luck from distance and he forced a decent save from Yves Makaba-Makalamby with a viciously-struck shot which the keeper could not hold but Thierry Gathuessi was on hand to thump the loose ball for a corner.
Hibs hit back and Fraser had a lucky break when a Nish shot bounced up awkwardly in front of him and struck his chest before going behind for a corner.
But Hibs were struggling to contain the lively Niculae. He fashioned himself another chance midway through the first half only for Makaba-Makalambay to save with his right boot.
The goalkeeper produced a magnificent one-handed save to turn a Don Cowie shot away in the 31st minute after Ian Black has set up the chance.
Dean Shiels should have made it 3-0 ten minutes from the break after good work between Zemmama and Fletcher but he was too casual with his finish and shot tamely at Fraser.
Inverness came back strongly in the second half and Niculae was only inches away with a low right-foot shot.
Zemmama responded at the other end but never got hold of his shot properly and his effort spun yards wide.
There was a let-off for Hibs when John Rankin sliced the ball towards his own goal and Makaba-Makalambay had to scramble the ball away for a corner.
Caley Thistle stormed forward in the closing stages but Hibs held firm as they secured another important win.
