Alex Burns struck three minutes from time to snatch all three points for Partick Thistle and give retiring boss John Lambie the perfect send off, preventing Hibs from recording a fifth straight win in the process.
The home side went ahead in the eighth minute when Mathias Jack flashed a header past Kenny Arthur after connecting with Derek Riordan's in-swinging cross.
Martin Hardie almost pulled one back for Thistle after 12 minutes but Nick Colgan just managed to tip his header over the bar before opposite number Arthur also did well to tip Riorden's 20 yard drive over his crossbar.
Thistle levelled after 28 minutes with a superb strike from Gerard Britton. Derek Fleming crossed from the left and Ian Murray could head clear only as far as the veteran striker who crashed a half-volley past the helpless Colgan.
Six minutes later Hibs were back in front after a superb spell of possession football. Thistle didn’t got near the ball for several minutes and Steven Whittaker surged into the Thistle penalty area before crossing along the six-yard line to present Scott Brown with a simple tap-in.
The Jags could have pulled one back just before the interval but, after good work from Ian Ross, but Jamie Mitchell shot high and wide with the goal at his mercy.
The equaliser eventually came after 51 minutes when David Rowson rifled a low right-foot shot from the edge of the area after Janos Matyus failed to head a Fleming free-kick clear.
Hardie hit the woodwork after 70 minutes but Thistle eventually grabbed the winner in the 87th minute.
Colgan managed to block Burns first shot but Mitchell played the ball back into the danger area, and Burns crashed a header into the roof of the net.
