Bottom-of-the-table Partick won back-to-back league games for the first time this season as they edged out Hibs in Edinburgh.
Goals from James Grady and Jamie Mitchell – one in each half – were enough to see off a lacklustre Hibs in front of just 5,447 fans - the home side's lowest crowd of the season.
Former Scotland international defender Colin Calderwood was sitting in the directors' box, fuelling speculation that he could be a candidate for the vacant managerial position at Easter Road.
Hibs were first to show when Stephen Dobbie had time and space in the penalty area but swiped his shot wildly over the top.
The Edinburgh side lost the services of midfield player Kevin Thomson after just 12 minutes when he was stretchered off with an ankle injury, to be replaced by Alen Orman.
Partick dominated the first half in terms of possession but Hibs always looked more threatening. A great cross from Grant Brebner picked out Tom McManus but the Hibs striker failed to control the ball and the chance was lost.
For all Partick's dominance, they did not have a shot on target until half-an-hour had passed and, even then, Grady's low trundler from 20 yards did not extend Daniel Andersson.
Hibs took the lead against the run of play after 33 minutes. An excellent cross from McManus picked out central defender Colin Murdock who nodded powerfully past Kenny Arthur from 10 yards.
Partick equalised four minutes later when Jean-Yves Anis cut the ball back for the unmarked Grady to drill a low shot past Andersson.
Thistle stunned Hibs by taking the lead after an hour with a well-worked goal. Andy Gibson beat Gary Caldwell to the ball in the centre-circle and carried it all the way to the penalty area and, when his shot was blocked, Mitchell fired home with the aid of a deflection.
Hibs hit back and Arthur did not look too clever when he failed to hold a shot from Kevin Nicol but there was no-one there to take advantage.
Murdock then saw a header beaten out by Arthur with ten minutes left but that was as close as Hibs came.
