Maciej Zurawski spared Celtic's blushes as they salvaged a late point on the day they were presented with the Premierleague championship trophy.
The Pole scored his 19th goal of the season with 14 minutes left with a fabulous header to cancel out Steven Fletcher's first-half strike for Hibs.
It was a low-tempo first half with Celtic playing well within themselves, with the championship already wrapped up.
John Hartson had an early shot which failed to trouble Zibi Malkowski and then Stilian Petrov dragged a shot across goal.
If anything, Hibs looked the more dangerous and Derek Riordan was just inches wide with a lob which beat Artur Boruc but bounced wide.
Stephen McManus should have done better after 29 minutes when he met a Shunsuke Nakamura free-kick but headed over the top.
Hibs made the breakthrough 10 minutes from the break when Fletcher raced onto a great throughball from Stephen Glass to tuck a shot into the corner of the net.
Hartson had a chance to equalise a couple of minutes later after a mistake by Gary Caldwell but sent a tame shot wide.
Celtic brought on Shaun Maloney at the start of the second half and, within minutes, he came close to an equaliser when he shot narrowly wide when the ball broke to him in the area.
Malkowski then did well to save from Hartson as Celtic visibly improved after the break.
The Welsh striker squandered another great chance after 59 minutes when he headed wide from a Nakamura free-kick.
Nakamura tried his luck shortly afterwards but Malkowski managed to get a hand to the ball to send it spinning for a corner.
But Celtic finally equalised with 14 minutes left when Zurawski headed home after a terrific cross from Paul Telfer.
