Work starts on Hibs £4m training complex!!!
It was revealed this afternoon on the official Hibs website (www.hibernianfc.co.uk) that work has started on Hibs new training complex at East Mains in Tranent.
Hibs manager John Collins and Chairman Rod Petrie were on hand to dig the first hole of the new complex.
The diggers are now on the 35 acre site levelling off the site and work will also soon start on the re-fitting of the buildings on the site at the moment.
The site had originally been priced at £3m.
The only question is: Where has the extra £1m investment in the site come from??? Our CIS Cup run?? the sale of Kevin Thomson???
It is, whoever, clear that the club will pick up NO new debt on the building of the complex as the funding is already in place to build the training centre.
Hibs Chairman Rod Petrie was delighted the building work had started and told the OFFICIAL club website:
"Following hard on the heels of the Club's victory in the CIS Cup this is another historic piece of news. Work is underway in developing our own training centre as a permanent base for training our professional football players. The facilities will rival anything available elsewhere in the country.
"This is being achieved as part of the Board's strategy for incremental improvement, on and off the field. The training centre is a major commitment. The Board continues to exercise sensible financial management to ensure that the Club is around for future generations to enjoy as a successful and thriving Scottish club."
Hibs manager John Collins was also excited by the news and said:
"The facilities look fantastic. Having our own training centre will be a massive boost for the players and for the coaching staff. The facilities will ensure we can prepare as thoroughly and professionally as possible all the year round.
"I am sure the facilities will also help Hibernian attract and develop the best football talent."
