The 26 year old can play in a number of positions, but is best suited at centre half.
Konde has signed on the dotted line until the summer of 2007 from German side Hansa Rostock.
Hibs gaffer Tony Mowbray said "This is a good opportunity for Oumar. He has enjoyed training with the team over the last week or so and we could see he is a talented player, who has all the physical attributes to compete in Scottish football. He is an impressive character and is determined to make a positive impact here. He will add a degree of depth and experience to the squad."
Konde is looking forward to playing for the Hi-Bees and said "I am delighted to have joined a team that play passing football. I am looking forward to playing for Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League and continuing to develop my game under Tony and the coaching staff."
At last the Hi-Bees sign a defender!
