Hibs young striker Garry O'Connor was not named as one of the staring eleven in Berti Vogts side to face Nigeria.
Although O'Connor has been in blistering form recently, it was Dundee United's Steven Thompson who was preferred to start up front, partnering either Neil McCann or Alan Johnston.
After scoring in five straight games, a feat which has not been achieved by a Hibee since Gordon Rae some twenty years ago, it was thought the 18 year old would start the match at Pittodrie, but he will probably be introduced at some point during the match.
On loan Gary Caldwell also missed out after his debut against France, with Aberdeen's Kevin McNaughton winning his first cap.
The starting line up to face Nigeria:
Rab Douglas (Celtic)
Robbie Stockdale (Middleborough)
David Weir (Everton)
Christian Dailly (West Ham United)
Steven Crainey (Celtic)
Kevin McNaughton (Aberdeen)
Gareth Williams (Nottingham Forest)
Paul Lambert (Celtic) Captain
Scot Gemmill (Everton)
Steven Thompson (Dundee United)
Neil McCann(Rangers) OR Alan Johnston (Middlesborough)
Newcastle United's Shay Given was named ahead of Nick Colgan for the Rebulic of Irelands match against the USA.
