Hibs have tonight confirmed the signing of Hertha Berlin attacker Myziane Maolida.
The 24-year-old joins the Hibees on loan for the rest of the season subject to international clearance and work permit approval.
Maolida has a strong pedigree having previously played in France's Ligue 1 with Lyon and Nice, as well as the Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin.
He also moved from Lyon to Nice for 10m Euros in 2018 and had a release clause of 100m Euros.
Hertha paid 4m Euros for him in 2021 from Nice.
He has also been capped from U16-U21 level for France, as well as a full international with Comoros.
Maolida can play on either wing or through the middle.
Hibs boss Nick Montgomery, speaking to the official club website said:
“Myziane is a very talented young player who has undoubted potential to play at the very highest level.
“For us to have the chance to sign a player of this calibre in January is an opportunity we worked hard to make happen, and we’re grateful to Hertha Berlin for agreeing to facilitate this loan.
“At 24 he has already moved to some big clubs but has found himself not playing regularly. He’s now hungry to get his career back on track. After numerous video calls, it was clear both parties really wanted to make this happen.
“Myziane can play centrally and wide, which is really important as we have been light in attacking options. I’m sure the supporters will be excited to see him in Hibs green and white for the rest of the season, and we will continue to search the market for additional signings.”
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
On paper this lad looks an incredible bit of business from Hibs.
He has fantastic pedigree, but seems to have lost his way a bit.
Hopefully a loan spell with the Hibees can get his confidence back.
You don't move for 10m Euros if you don't have something about you.
Welcome to Hibs Myziane.
