Hibs have this afternoon been linked in certain areas of the media with a move for ex Celtic, Dundee, SC Freiburg & Aarau midfielder Mark Fotheringham.
Fotheringham, 24, left Dundee to sign for Bundesliga side SC Freiburg two years ago and it is believed that Hibs and Aberdeen have expressed an interest in the player after he agreed his release from Swiss side Aarau.
It is believed Fotheringham wants to return to the SPL to challenge for a place in the Scotland squad.
The midfielder said:
"I loved every minute of my time abroad and I'm fitter than I ever was, I was home over the festive period watching a few SPL games and that left me determined to come back and play here."
"It's a big thing for me to try to break into the international set-up, especially with the Euro 2008 qualifiers about to resume," he added.
"I believe I'm good enough to make the step and being back in the spotlight here would help to impress the new Scotland manager.
"It's a very exciting time for Scotland with all the changes taking place and hopefully I can play my part in taking the country to the next level."
Only time will tell.
