Hibs are reportedly after Crewe Alexandra striker Steve Jones.

Hibs gaffer Tony Mowbray has watched Jones on quite a number of times this season and it is though he is keen to land the 29 year old in the summer.

With Hibs prolific striker Derek Riordan's contract up in October and with it looking like he won't sign a new one and the recent loss of Gary O'Connor to Lokomotiv Moscow for £1.6m, Mowbray is keen to fill the 40 goals a season gap it will leave.

Jones is available on a free transfer, but Hibs will face competition for his signature from Plymouth Argyle,
Burnley, Stoke City, Derby City, Watford, Cardiff City, Preston North End and QPR.
