Entry prices for the next derby at ER in November is set to be set at £20, the Evening News has reported.
Hearts fans have famously boycotted the fixture at Easter Road in recent seasons, claiming that £24 for the game was an outrage, and that many would not pay it. Of course, it's nothing to do with the fact that we were the dominant side, of course!
Chairman Malcolm McPherson said: "It's been years since a derby was a sell out at either ground and I feel the game has lost something as a result of having so many empty seats. There's no doubt television being at the games has hit the crowds and perhaps prices had also done so."
McPherson continued: "We are listening to fans who say they want the derby to be what it used to be in terms of atmosphere both inside and outside the ground, to have the stadium bustling. If people want to accuse us of making a U-turn then I have no problem with that, they can say what they like. We will be making a big effort to sell as many tickets as possible for what is a big game to both sets of fans. It’s no secret that football is struggling financially and what we want to do is generage as much income as we can, to get as many people into Easter Road at the best price we can achieve."
It's now gonna be really interesting to see if our pals from Gorgie CAN sell all their tickets for the match, given the fact that they hold the upper hand against us again, beat us 5-1, and are playing well.................but remember, the game is still live on the telly!
