Hibs' Derek Riordan has picked up his Third consecutive Bank of Scotland young player of the month award.
The 22-year-old is the top Scottish scorer in the SPL and has hit net 5 times in January to take his seasons tally to 17………..so far.
Deek's excellent continued run of form has earned him a call-up along with the much improved Gary O’Connor and the defensive stalwart Gary Caldwell, to the Scotland training camp down at Manchester this week.
Those three along with Steven Whittaker away with the Scotland Under 21’s and Sam Morrow and Dean Shiels away with Northern Ireland’s under 21’s, it’s been a bit quiet down at Training this week, but time has been well utilised with their remaining team-mates on the training pitches, especially the new arrivals, Chris Hogg, Amadou Konte and Ivan Sproule.
Thankfully all seem to have got through their breaks away with their respective countries and are returning fit and ready for our game against rangers on Saturday, IF they make the cut that is, such is the competition at Easter Road this season :o)
Deek has now won the Young Player of the Month Award three months running and has a total of four this season so far, with another Hibs youngster sandwiched in between, Steven Fletcher getting the award for October 2004
