de la Cruz not wanting to come back

Our record signing Ulises de la Cruz is hoping a good show in the World Cup will be his passport out of Easter Road and into Europe.

de la Cruz was being interview before Ecuadors debut in the competition versus Italy when he said: "You need to have good luck in football and until now I have never been in the right place at the right time. I am 28 now, and this World Cup is the first opportunity I have had to land a contract in Spain or Italy."

Not happy in Scotland

Useless, sorry Ulises added: "Those are the countries I want to play in. I have three years left on my contract in Edinburgh - but who would want to stay there? I have always followed Italian football on TV. AC Milan are the Serie A team I support, while Barcelona are my favourites in Spain. They are my dream destinations. "

"If I went to Spain I would enjoy myself - they have a lively style of play that I like. But if I was to join an Italian club, I would learn all about tactics."

I find this news shocking, as he hasn't exactly showed why McLeish payed all that money for him - well, he hasn't shown it in Hibs colours anyway. He always gets rave reviews in his Ecuador matches, but when he plays in Scotland it's hard to see why he's so highly rated.

The only decent game he's had for Hibs, in my opinion, was when he scored two against Hearts - and against AEK in Greece, he was brutal.

So Ulises, most Hibs fans agree with you. Have a great World Cup, shine on the big stage. Get that move to Spain or Italy, and maybe we'll get the moeny back we paid for you and get guys you want to play for Hibernian Football Club.
