Bobby Williamson said on the official site: "The player understands the Club's decision and that has been taken because Grant ran towards the melee and got himself involved, even though the referee was already taking action. At Hibernian, we don't want players getting involved with referees and opponents."
Brebner said: "I was disappointed about being sent off but I understand the club's decision."
Grant had only been on the park for a few minutes when he got involved with some Motherwell players after a shocking tackle on Ian Murray.
Meanwhile, news that Murray has already played in his last derby match are said to be wide of the mark. Rumours have been circulating that Ian was set to sign for an English Premiership side when the transfer window re-opens in January, but its just not true.
Again, speaking to hibees-mad, David Forsyth said that due to his excellent form, clubs have been looking at Murray, and other players at the club, but no offers have been made. And in any case, the club is not looking to sell.
