Hibs have had an offer of around £200,000 for defender Jamie McCart rejected by St Johnstone.
The Hibees apparently made their move late Thursday night, but the Perth cup double winners quickly rejected the offer.
However, according to the Dundee Courier, the rejection has not put manager Jack Ross off, and a second offer is expected to come from Edinburgh in the coming days.
The 24-year-old was a revelation in defence, along with Jason Kerr (Another linked with Easter Road), Liam Gordon and Shaun Rooney, as they helped secured an incredible Scottish Cup/League Cup double winning season.
McCart has previously played for Celtic, St Mirren, Inverness and Alloa Athletic.
Editor's View:
McCart would be a brilliant singing for the Hibees.
He has just had an outstanding season for the Saints and Hibs badly need a couple of new faces in the centre of defence.
Darren McGregor is now hitting 36 and Paul Hanlon is 31, and of course Ryan Porteous is being linked heavily with big-money move to Turkey with Besiktas, and also has Galatasaray, QPR and Millwall cedited with an interest.
However, we at Hibs-Mad towers can't see McCart signing unless the Hibees up their offer, and by quiet a bit.
£200,000 seems a very low offer to us.
