Southend United boss Phil Brown has today confirmed that Hibs keeper Mark Oxley is close to signing for the English side.
As Hibs-Mad revealed yesterday, Oxley, 25, has been talking to the League One side, and Brown has confirmed that he is due at their training ground tommorow (Monday) to finalise a deal.
Speaking to the Echo, Brown said:
"Mark is due to be at the training ground tommorow and I would be pleased to get a deal done for him.
"I paid money for him when he was about 16 and rated very highly.
"It would be great to work with him again, as he's developed into a very good goalkeeper.
"He has got game time under his belt at both Oldham and Hibernian, but a change in manager there has enabled us to get him, which is very good news"
Oxley has played over 90 games for Hibs, and scored (yes scored!) 1 goal.
