Pre-season result - Glentoran 0-2 Hibs

Last updated : 25 July 2009 By Steve Forbes

Hibs continued their build up to new SPL season this afternoon, with a comfortable victory over Northern Ireland side Glentoran.

Goals from Moroccan magician Merouane Zemmama and a wonderful free-kick from Derek Riordan within the first 20 minutes of the game, made sure the Hibees picked up another win.

The 300 or so Hibs fans that travelled to Belfast were left disappointed, when new keeper Graham Stack didn’t make his first appearance for the club, with him preferring to get some training in and get his fitness up before he makes his Hibs bow.

Stack is expected to make his debut in Monday night’s friendly with Shamrock Rovers at the Tallaght Stadium.

The Hibees lead 2-0 at the break and never really lost control of the match.

Zemmama and Rankin both received some rough treatment from the Glentoran players, and Sol Bamba also had to leave the field injured, following more rough challenges.

Danny Galbraith and Kurtis Byrne both looked dangerous and direct after coming off the bench in the second half.

Hibs had to complete the game with 10 players after Bamba’s injury, as they had used up all their substitutes, Ian Murray dropping back in to centre half.
