The 30-year-old Preston North End defender has been placed on the transfer list by manager Darren Ferguson, and has been deemed surplus to requirements at Deepdale.

The right back moved to Preston from Aberdeen in a £100,000 deal two years ago, but has failed to hold down a regular place with the English Championship side.

He has now gone on record and revealed that a move to the Hibees, who tried to sign him in January, would appeal.

He said:

"I'll see if I can change the gaffer's mind in training and maybe come off the transfer list.

"But if I'm going to sit in the reserves I'd rather move on. Until I get the release papers, though, I'm not pushing for anything.

"Hibs are the ones who have shown an interest, but I've not spoken in depth with them. They're a great club and John Hughes is a great manager. So if that came about then great.”

Hibs boss John Hughes is still to make a move in the transfer market this summer, but with the Hibees due in Europa League action in late July, he will have to move quickly if any potential signing targets are to be eligible to play in Europe.
