Hibs youth boss James McDonaugh has today revealed that he has left the club to take up the role of first team coach at Falkirk.
There had been rumours circulating in the last few weeks that he had been "removed" from his role as Head of Academy Coaching.
However, it seems he has left on his own terms to take up a higher coaching position at Falkirk, as First Team Coach to manager Peter Houston.
McDonaugh has played an integral part of the Hibees youth set-up over the years, doing an outstanding job at the club, helping the likes of Danny Handling, Jason Cummings, Alex Harris and Jordon Forster progress to the first team at Easter Road. It seems a very strange decision to allow him to leave.
Earlier today McDonaugh tweeted:
"I'd like to say a huge thank you to staff players fans, everyone at HibernianFC for my time at the club. I've decided to accept an offer from FalkirkFC as first team coach.
I would like to wish everyone every success at Hibs but now I am looking forward to a fantastic opportunity at Falkirk and can't wait to get started"
Hibs are expected to announce Eddie May in a youth role this week, but it's unsure if he will replace McDonaugh, or if he will take Bill Hendry's job as Head of Youth Development.
The Hibees have also appointed Graeme Mathie as Head of Player Recruitment.
Hibs-Mad would like to wish James McDonaugh all the very best for the future, he done a magnificent job with the club's youth side, especially last season following the death of U19 player David Paul.
