A Hibs side made up by some of the club's unstoppable U19 side, and also lads from the U16's & U17's side, completed a unique treble last night, and won the East of Scotland Shield.
The Shield is played out every year by Hibs and Hearts reserve sides, and the youngsters kept up Hibs recent domination of the competition, with the trophy returning to Easter Road for the 5th season on the trot.
Irish striker Kurtis Byrne was once again on the score sheet, and had Hibs leading until 2 minutes from time, when Hearts equalised in dramatic fashion through Wallace.
The game went to penalties.
Kurtis Byrne missed Hibs first spot kick, that struck the bar and Hearts had the initiative.
Hearts converted all their following four penalties and Hibs youngsters Moyes, Welch, Deane and Bell all scored.
Hearts had the chance to land the trophy, but young Deland missed his spot kick.
Penalties entered sudden death, Smith, Crawford and Taggart all scored for the Hibees, with Balatoni and Hill for Hearts.
Jambos captain Stewart then missed his kick, and the Hibees had kept possession of the East of Scotland Shield.
The Hibs team was:
Graham, Burns, Taggart, Welch, Moyes, Smith, Crawford, Deane, Byrne, Bell, Murray.
Subs: Flynn, Gold, Horribine, Caldwell, Monaghan
