It's been revealed today that Hibs have taken French midfielder Reginald Mbu Alidor on trial at East Mains.
The 26-year-old is currently contracted to Estonian side Nomme Kalju, but that runs out at the end of the month.
Alidor played against Celtic earlier this season in the Champions League and has been handed the chance to win a contract at Easter Road by new boss Jack Ross.
Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News, the Hibs boss revealed that the trial was set-up before he came to the club, but he was happy to honour the deal.
However, he doesn't think Hibs will sign the player
Ross said:
“Not as things stand.
“I think it was something that was arranged prior to me coming as well. I was happy to honour that in terms of him coming in. It’s maybe not the exact what we are looking for at the moment
“I said earlier, I’ve got a good group here. I like them, I’m pleased with. I’m not in a desperate rush to do a huge amount to it. We’ve got a decent number inf the squad as well.
“Nothing moving forward with that.”
Editor's View:
Hibs still lack a physical, combatitive, ball-winning midifelder, so it's worth taking a look at the player.
Ross never sancioned the trial, but you never know, we could unearth a diamond.
Hibs are expected to sign 2 or 3 players in January, but it looks like Jack Ross may have targets in mind instead of trialist.
