Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has revealed that the club has offered freed
Gretna striker Fabian Yantorno a chance at Easter Road.

The little Uruguayan star has been out injured since January with a serious knee ligament injury picked up against
Falkirk and will miss the rest of the season.

Paatelainen has offered Yantorno that chance to finish his rehab at the Hibees new £5m state-of-the-art training facility, with Hibs having first option to sign him once he's fully fit.

Yantorno, 25, has jumped at the chance to join the Hibees, after he was released by
Gretna last month, the tiny Borders club unable to afford the rest of his rehab due to going into administration.

He can play as a striker or midfielder, but he is at his best when deployed just behind the strikers and he has been given the chance to impress Mixu once he has recovered from his injury.

Hibees boss Paatelainen has, however, warned that the player will not be ready for action until next season, he said:

"It won't be until next season, we are still a few months away, but we have agreed with Fabian that he does his rehabilitation with us with a view to joining us.

"I feel he is a very good player, very positive, he has good technical ability, he is quick, and sharp. We will get him fit, there is no question of that, and then we will assess him. I think he will be a good asset to us if he turns out to be the player I have seen before and believe he is.

"He had actually begun his rehabilitation elsewhere and he was delighted when we asked him to come over here. He was here in a flash. He told me he was really impressed when he played against Hibs at Easter Road, the set-up, the supporters, everything."

This could prove a shrewd move by Mixu, the player was by far and away Gretna's best player this year, Let's hope Hibs can get him fit and take full advantage of his availability.
