According to the Daily Star newspaper, Hibs boss Neil Lennon will offer Dundee keeper Scott Bain a pre-contract to sign for the Hibees in the summer.
Bain, 26, spent just 4 weeks on loan at Easter Road during the January transfer window, without playing a game, but quickly left in a three-way transfer merry-go-round deal on the final day of the window.
Celtic were keen on Bain, Hibs were keen on Scott Allan, who was on loan with Dundee, and Dundee were keen on Hibs striker Simon Murray.
Hibs agreed to terminate Bain's loan deal, so he could sign on loan for Celtic, Dundee did the same that allowed Allan to sign for Hibs on loan, and Hibs striker Murray joined the Dark Blues.
It now seems Hibs boss Neil Lennon will offer him a return to Easter Road in the summer on a permanent deal.
Celtic could put a spanner in the works, however, should he impress enough at Parkhead to be offered a pre-contract by the Glasgow club
