Hibs boss Terry Butcher is set to make his first signing of the 2014 January transfer window.
Notts County winger Danny Haynes is set to sign on loan for the rest of the season.
The former Charlton and Ipswich attacker took to twitter to reveal that he was swapping English League One for the Scottish Premiership.
The 26-year-old tweeted:
"Now on route to Scotland. Off on loan to Hibs for the rest of the season"
The deal is expected to be finalised on Thursday, and Haynes is expected to make his debut in next weekend's Scottish Cup Clash with Raith Rovers at Easter Road.
Haynes has plenty of experience, having started his career with Ipswich Town, playing 130 games and scoring 19 goals.
He them had a short loan spell with Millwall, before moving to Bristol City, Barnsley and Charlton Athletic.
The England U19 international signed for County at the start of this season, but a change of boss has seen him fall down the pecking order.
Haynes, who can play through the middle as the main striker, or on either wing, has been placed on the transfer list by Notts manager Sean Derry.
Haynes has played nearly 300 games in his career, and scored 50 goals. Most of them at Championship level.
