Hibs have today announced that they have agreed a contract termination with midfielder Melker Hallberg.
The 26-year-old Sweden international's deal was set to expire this summer, and he was able to speak to interested parties about a possible pre-contract deal this month.
However, the Hibees have moved to get him off the wage bill early and allow him to find a new club, as new boss Shaun Maloney continues to mould the squad to his liking.
Hallberg won't be a free agent for long, with St Johnstone said to be close to landing his signature this evening.
There has also been a couple of sides in his homeland linked with a move.
He played 61 times for the Hibees and scored 3 goals.
Hibernian-Mad View:
This one has been expected all month.
Melker has been out with injury all season, and has struggled to get in the side since his return.
He had been a fringe player before his injury, and it's clear that Maloney didn't see him as part of his future plans.
St Johnstone would be a good move for him, and Hibs-Mad wish him well when he finds a new club.
