Hibs are the latest club that have been linked with prolific Linfield hitman Peter Thompson.

Linfield manager David Jeffrey has revealed that the Hibees have been in touch with the
Belfast club about the availability of the Northern Ireland internationalist.

Motherwell,
Kilmarnock, Norwich City and Stockport County have all been credited with an interest in the player and he is currently in talks with Stockport County, but Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen could be about to attempt to hijack the deal.

Killie had three bids rejected last week, with their highest being £150,000. How much Linfield are looking for the player is still unclear.

Linfield manager Jeffrey said:

"Hibs, Motherwell and
Kilmarnock have all contacted us but we have told them if they are serious about their interest then we would like to meet them.

"But Peter will not be used as a piece of bait in a bidding war by this club, we just want to do what is right for everyone concerned and help Peter fulfil his ambition of playing in England or Scotland."

Thompson has scored an incredible 152 goals in 234 appearances for Linfield and has also scored 1 goal in 7 internationals, against
Georgia.

He finished top goal scorer during the Irish Premier League season with an outstanding 48 goals in 58 games in 2005/06.

This player has been linked with us every pre-season for the last two or three years, could it finally be close to happening.

'Pistol Pete' (as he is affectionately known by the Linfield support) certainly knows how to find the net and is still young, so he could be cracking signing for Hibs.
