Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has today revealed that he has allowed Scotland U21 striker Ross Campbell to go out on loan.

The 21-year-old will join First Division side Dunfermline Athletic on an initial one month loan deal, with a view to a longer loan, should he impress.

Campbell has seen his chances of first team football at Easter Road following the arrival of Derek Riordan in a £400,000 move from Celtic, pushing him further down the pecking order behind Riordan, Steven Fletcher, Colin Nish and on loan Steven Pinau.

Dean Shiels and Fabian Yantorno can also play through the middle and Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has jumped at the chance to give the youngster a chance of first team football.

The Hibs boss said:

"I'm not trying to push him away from the club, I feel it will benefit him immensely to get some regular first-team football. Dunfermline are a good club and Ross will be in good hands with their manager Jim McIntyre also a striker."

Campbell made his debut for the Hibees against Kilmarnock in 2007 when John Collins was manager, he has gone on to make 10 appearances, most of them from the bench, but has yet to score his first senior goal.

He has been capped at both U20 and U21 level for Scotland and has scored a couple of goals for the U21's

He was a massive hit for the Scotland U20 side, scoring 5 goals in 9 games and also played at the 2007 U20 World Cup in Canada, scoring one goal, against Japan.

Good luck Ross from everyone at Hibernian-Mad.
