Hibs have tonight revealed that young striker Josh O'Connor has joined Irish side Dundalk.
The 20-year-old, son of Hibs legend Gary O'Connor, has joined Dundalk until the end of the Irish season in January, when he will return to Easter Road.
O'Connor spent last season on loan with Scottish Championship side Airdrieonians, he played 33 times and scored 5 goals, and helped the club to a 4th place finish, as well as landing a winners medal when they won the Scottish Challenge Cup.
Dundalk already have former Hibs academy striker Jamie Gullan, who could form a partnership with O'Connor.
Hibernian FC Sporting Director Malky Mackay commented:
“This is another opportunity for Josh to gain regular experience of playing men’s football.
“Playing in a different league and country will be a new experience for him, and one I’m sure he will relish. We wish him all the best for the next six months.”
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW
A good move for Josh.
The more game time he gets the better, which will give him a chance of fighting for a first team spot at Easter Road.
Hopefully he scores a few goals and comes back in good form.
Good luck Josh.
