According to some areas of today’s press, Hibs are going to have to fight off a number of clubs to keep star striker Derek Riordan once the transfer window opens.
Lokomotiv Moscow, Panathanaikos, Hertha Berlin and Cypriot side Limassol, are all said to be keen on the signature of the fans favourite, and are expected to bid in January.
Riordan currently has 18 months left on his contract Easter Road, and the supporters will be hoping the club can sign him up on a longer deal.
It’s the Scotland internationalists second stint with the Hibees, he joined Celtic in 2006, after breaking through the Hibees famous youth system and scoring 60+ goals in three seasons.
He re-signed for his boyhood heroes in a reported £400,000 deal in the summer of 2008, and Hibs boss John Hughes will be reluctant to lose him.
Hibs will be unwilling to sell, but should they do, could face a mutiny from the support, who would be dissapointed at the prospect of losing the lifelong Hibee for a second time.
Riordan recently scored his 82nd goal for the Hibees, and will hopefully be around to score another 82!!!!
