Hibs boss Colin Calderwood has confirmed his 7th signing since becoming Hibs manager last year.
The Hibees yesterday confirmed the signing of former Bolton striker Ricardo Vaz Te on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old Portugal U21 international goes straight in to the squad for tonight’s SPL clash with Hamilton at New Douglas Park (7.45pm k.o).
Vaz Te was a free agent after negotiating his release from Cypriot club Panionios, who he had agreed a 3-year-deal with in the summer, following his release from Premiership side Bolton Wanderers.
Hibs have handed the striker contract until the summer, but Vaz Te, who has spent the last two week at the clubs East Mains training centre on trial, is hoping to earn a longer deal.
He said:
"I'm pleased to have signed and now I want to help Hibs reach their targets, which is hopefully to get into the top six.
"Obviously we would require a couple of wins in the next few weeks to do that but we are on a good run and I'm here to help and hopefully to have an influence on the team.
"I want to show that my injury problems are behind me and that I'm still a fresh, young, Portuguese talent, which is what they said about me when I went to Bolton.
"Hibs is a massive club. I always knew about them as a player and the problems they have had this season can happen in football - just look at Liverpool.
"But Hibs have bounced straight back, they didn't give up. They have a great set-up, there are a lot of strong characters at the club and the manager is a massive influence.
"They are only on the road to greatness and what has happened this season is just a bump on the road."
