Hibs have today confirmed that the have agreed a big money deal with Swiss side St Gallen for striker Elie Youan.
Youan, 24, is currently on loan at Easter Road and has been excellent, scoring 7 goals and adding another 7 assists, so far, this campaign.
The Hibees have agreed to pay the agreed fee in his loan deal, which is being reported as in excess of £500,000.
Youan has signed a 3-year-deal keeping tied to the club until the summer of 2026.
The deal will be completed once the summer transfer window opens.
Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss Lee Johnson said:
“We are delighted to bring Élie to the Club on a permanent basis. We always believed he had the attributes to help us and his positive form this season shows how important it was to include an option to buy clause in his initial loan agreement.
“I’d also like to thank the Gordon family for backing us with a significant financial investment, which allowed us to make him a Hibs player.
“There’s no doubt that Élie’s got a lot of unique attributes; he’s rapid, can repeatedly sprint, and is a good finisher. He’s still young and we need to keep developing him off the ball, so he can achieve his full potential.
“We can’t wait to keep working with him, so he can become an even more important player for us.”
Hibernian-Mad View:
What a fantastic signing.
Elie has been an excellent signing and has got better and better as the weeks have went on.
It's a real statement of intent from the club and the Gordon family as well.
Hibs have spent some good fees since the Gordon's took control, on the likes of Elias Melkersen (500k), Harry McKirdy (350k) and Dan Mackay (200k).
The have also paid six-figures for the likes of Dylan Tait and , but this looks like the biggest yet.
It could also be our most important, with the others pretty much development players.
