Hibs have announed the signing of free agent striker Dwight Gayle.
The 34-year-old hitman has signed a one-year-deal at Easter Road and becomes David Gray's 12th signing.
Gayle was linked with the Hibees last week, but the news was played down, but the report has been proven right.
The former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace player is ready to go after he revealed that he was involved in a PFA programme over the summer that helps free agents, and that it involves 10 weeks of pre-season training, and games, to help players find deals with new clubs.
Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss David Gray said:
“It’s great to be able to bring Dwight to the Club. He’s performed at a top-level throughout his career and has a real desire to show his abilities here in Scotland. He’s a different type of striker to what we currently have in the building. He’s a real penalty box type of striker, a great finisher, and his experience will be of great benefit to us. I look forward to working with him.”
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW
Gayle could be a very handy signing for the Hibees.
He has had a fantastic career, and he brings a wealth of experience to Easter Road.
The fact he is fit and ready is a massive bonus, especially with the news that £600,000 summer singing Kieron Bowie was injured on Scotland U21 duty and will be out until January.
Welcome to the Hibs Dwight!!
