Hibs continued their summer signing spree this evening with the capture of a new striker.
The Hibees have completed the £700,000 signing of Roda JC goal machine Dylan Verte.
24-year-old Verte has signed a 3-year-deal at Easter Road and becomes the ninth summer signing for the club.
Hibs have finally replaced Kevin Nisbet, who joined English side Millwall in a £2.2m earlier this summer by landing the Dutch hitman.
It seems thety beat off English Championship and late Serie A interest to land the former Feyenoord man.
Sunderland, Coventry City, Swansea City, Palermo and Pisa all credited with an interest in the Dutch U20 international.
Manager Lee Johnson, speaking to the official club website, said:
“First of all, I would like to thank the Club who have worked extremely hard to get this deal over the line, in particular, Ben Kensell, Ian Gordon and Brian McDermott with the negotiations and the financial backing from the Gordon family to bring a player of Dylan’s quality in.
“Dylan is a player coming into his prime who has a natural ability for both scoring and creating goals. I am really excited to see how he adapts to the intensity of the Scottish game because we know he has the attributes to be very successful here.
“The squad is coming together really nicely now, we have got several options in key positions – which will be crucial for us moving forward this season.”
Vente added:
“It feels great to be at Hibernian, I’m really happy.”
“When I heard of the interest, I was delighted. The manager gave me a good feeling about the Club when we spoke and I really want to show my abilities in the Scottish league.
“I’m a striker who scores goals. The last two seasons have been pretty good for me and I want to bring that to Hibs."
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW:
A real statement of intent signing from the Hibees!!
The Gordon family have once again backed the manager, with the club having spent north of £2m in transfer fee's this summer.
Hibs have paid £500k for Elie Youan, £350k for Dylan Levitt and also spent money to land Jojo Wollacott, Max Boruc and Riley Harbottle.
Let's hope Johnson can get it right on the pitch now.
