Hibs sign Plymouth Argyle keeper Graham Stack

Hibs boss John Hughes has completed his fourth signing of the summer, by landing Plymouth Argyle keeper Graham Stack.

Stack, 27, agreed his release from Championship side Plymouth after a disagreement with manager Paul Sturrock, finding himself on the fringes of the first team at Home Park.

The former Arsenal, Wolves, Reading and Blackpool keeper has signed a 2-year-deal with the Hibees and goes straight in to the squad, who fly out to Ireland tomorrow for a mini tour of the emerald isle.

Hibs face Glentoran in Belfast on Saturday, then head south to face Shamrock Rovers on Monday.

Stack has revealed of his delight at signing on at Easter Road, he said:

"Everything's been agreed with the contract and it's just a case of getting it signed. I've reached a settlement with Plymouth to release me from my contract and allow me to walk away from the club.

"I'm delighted Hibs have shown a lot of interest in taking me up to Scotland, especially the gaffer who I had a conversation with last season when he was at Falkirk.

"I had offers from three or four League One clubs and a Championship club, and the chance to go on trial some places, and I'm looking forward to just playing football because I didn't really settle last season. Having started the season with Plymouth I had some personality differences with the manager and he decided to leave me out.

"He then made it clear I didn't have a future at the club, even though he said he thinks I'm a good keeper."

Stack also revealed that he had spoken to a number of ex team-mates over the move to the SPL, he said:

"I spoke to a few people and I only heard good things about the club and about Yogi. I had chats with Alan Gow, who I was at Blackpool with, Steven MacLean, David McNamee, Chris Clark and Paul Gallagher at Plymouth, and Neill Collins and Chris Iwelumo at Wolves.

"The lads have all spoken very highly of the gaffer, Hibs and the Scottish game and I'm looking forward to trying to get myself in the first-team."

Ireland U21 international Stack will challenge current keepers Yves Ma-Kalambay and young Thomas Flynn for the Hibs No.1 jersey.
