Hibs have tonight announced the signing of Nottingham Forest defender Riley Harbottle.

The 6ft 2in central defender has signed a 3-year-deal at Easter Road and joins for an undisclosed fee.

22-year-old Harbottle has been attracting interest after impressing whilst on loan with Mansfield Town last season, playing 37 games and scoring 6 goals.

Harbottle also had a previous loan spell with Wealdstone and has played 50 games in his career.

He also played twice for Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss Lee Johnson said:

“Riley is a young defender with a lot of potential and we’re delighted to bring him to the Club.

“He has good pedigree coming from Nottingham Forest’s Academy and impressed with Mansfield last year.

“He’s a talented young player that we believe we can develop and he adds strength in depth for us at centre-back.

“Everyone is looking forward to working with him.”

HIBS-MAD VIEW

We must admit, we know nothing about Riley, but it looks like he impressed with Mansfield last season, and could be a shrewd signing for the club.

Still only 22, he has plenty development potential in him, and it also looks like he is a goal threat.

Signing a couple of central defenders was a must, let's hope we can get the Will Fish deal done and we have a solid looking central defence.

Welcome to the Hibees Riley!
