Hibs have this afternoon annnounced the signing of French striker Élie Youan.

The 23-year-old has joined the Hibees on loan from Swiss side FC St Gallen until the end of the season, with the option to buy tied into the deal.

Youan has hade spells in France, Switzerland and Belgium and becomes the 8th summer signing to arrive at Easter Road.

Hibs are thought to have beaten off a number of clubs for the signature of the former KV Mechlen and Nantes striker, who can also play wide left.

He has also represented France at U18, U19 and U21 level.

Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss Lee Johnson said:

“We are excited to welcome Élie to Hibs and we are glad he chose us out of numerous clubs who were interested in him.

“Élie is a very versatile forward player with excellent speed and dynamism.

“His attributes will enable us to stretch the game and allow us to open up space for our technically-gifted midfield players.”

Hibs Head of Recruitment Ian Gordon added:

“We are excited to add a player of Youan’s ability to our squad. He has proven he can score goals across different European leagues and we are confident that he will continue to succeed in Scotland.

“Both his pace and his natural goal-scoring ability impressed us and he will give us another option to use in the forward areas.”

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

We don't know much about the lad, but his highlights video is quite exciting.

He looks pacey and a real handful and on paper has a decent scoring record.

Hibs have been busy in the transfer market, and we are clearly targeting, young, pacey players with plenty energy.

Hibs are expected to bring quite a few players in yet, in what has been an incredibally busy transfer window.
