New Hibs boss John Hughes has tonight completed his first signing at Easter Road.

Falkirk midfielder Patrick Cregg has signed a 2-year-deal, after being released by the Bairns.

Hughes is delighted to have landed his first capture, and speaking to the official website said:

"Patrick loves getting on the ball and has loads of energy, he's just the sort of player I want at the Club. He has his best years in front of him and will thrive on the big stage at Easter Road."

Irish U21 international Cregg was also delighted to be joining the Hibees and said:

"I loved working with the gaffer at Falkirk, so to be joining him at a Club the size of Hibernian is a great opportunity for me. I'm very excited about pre-season and can't wait to start work at the training centre this week with the rest of the boys."

Cregg, 23, is an Arsenal youth product and played 3 games for the Gunners, all coming in the English League Cup.

He then moved on to Falkirk and made over 100 appearances in a dark blue jersey.

Hibs are also hot on the trail of Cregg's Falkirk team mate, Spanish goalkeeper Dani Mallo, who could be signing within the next couple of days.

The Hibees are also thought to be close to completing deals for Sunderland forward Anthony Stokes and Everton youngster Tom McCready.

Stokes would arrive on loan, should the expected happen and Hibs forward Steven Fletcher signs for Burnley in a £3.5m deal.

Manchester United winger Danny Galbraith is another rumoured to be on his way to Easter Road.
