Hibs sign Dinamo Zagreb defender Marijan Čabraja

Hibs have today moved quickly to replace out-going Josh Doig, who has signed for Hellas Verona of Italy in a £3.25m deal.

Croatian left-back Marijan Čabraja has joined the Hibees on a 3-year-deal from Dinamo Zagreb.

Čabraja, 25, signed for the Hibees on a free transfer, but Zagreb will hold a decent % sell-on fee for the player.

He arrives at Easter Road with good pedigree, he has won the Croatian league title and cup, as well as the Hungarin title whilst on loan with Ferencvaros and he has also played in the Europa League and been capped by Croatia U21's.

Hibs boss Lee Johnson said:

“We are delighted to welcome Marijan to Hibernian FC and look forward to working with him.

“He has history of playing at a very high level and is the perfect age to add to our group.

“He’s athletic, a really technical left-back who has quality on the ball through his delivery and distribution. He will add strength to our group.”

Head of Recruitment, Ian Gordon, added:

“Squad planning is always at the forefront of our minds and knowing there’s been interest in Josh Doig for a prolonged period, Marijan is someone we’ve been looking at very closely.

“He has experience of playing European football, has good pedigree, and is someone we believe can hit the ground running straight away.”

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

We don't know anything about the player, but he has a very good CV before his move to Edinburgh.

It's good to see Hibs being pre-active about the possible loss of Josh Doig and lining up a replacement within days of him leaving.

Hibs have signed some good looking players this window, let's hope we can get them to gel.

Cmon the cabbage!
