Hibs have today confirmed the signing of Blackpool winger Demetri Mitchell.
The 25-year-old has signed for the Hibees on a two-and-a-half-year deal, for an undisclosed fee.
Mitchell brings some much needed competition to the left hand side, after the club let Daniel Mackay head to Kilmarnock on loan.
The former Man United youth product is no stranger to the SPFL, having had two previous loan spells with Hearts.
He can play anywhere down the left hand side, but is expected to play mostly on the wing.
MItchell joins a number of new faces arriving in this window, including Chris Mueller and Rocky Bishiri amongst others.
Speaking to the official club website, he said:
"Hibs is a big club. I spoke to the manager on his aspirations, and I've got my own aspirations for the team and individually. I want to be playing football week in, week out, so I can express myself on the pitch.
“The style of football and the manager was a big pull. The manager is hungry and made me feel like a big part of his plans.
“We have a great stadium here at Hibs, great fans, great atmosphere. I'm excited to play football again, and I want to try and help Hibernian get into Europe.
“I'd say skills, directness, and I’ll try and make an impact.
“l like playing either side, either wing. If we’re playing five at the back, or three, then I like playing wing-back. I like to get forward and attack.”
Hibs boss Shaun Maloney added:
“I’m delighted to sign Demetri. He brings excellent attributes in different positions and will help us in both attacking and defensive situations.
“As a player, he brings real technical quality and outstanding speed, particularly in one vs one situations. My staff and I look forward to working with him.”
Hibernian-Mad View:
Hibs are really having a cracking transfer window this January.
Another transfer fee paid out for a player that brings some much needed pace and competition to the left hand side.
His versatility is a good thing for us, playing eithr as a full back, wing back or winger.
The Hibees are not finished there, with it being reported they are still looking to bring in another couple of players.
