Hibs have today announed their second signing of the summer, with the capture of striker Adam Le Fondre.
The 36-year-old has signed a 1-year-deal at Easter Road, with the club having the option to extend it.
Le Fondre arrives in Edinburgh after 5 years in Australia.
He has played for the likes of Reading, Wolves and Cardiff City in the past, and brings loads of experience to the club.
The Englishman has been linked with Hibs twice in the past, but the move never happened and it's now third time lucky.
Speaking to the official club website, boss Lee Johnson said:
“Adam brings craft to our new front-line and his experience and nous in the game will help develop our younger strikers.
“Throughout his career he has a proven goal scoring record and physically he’s in good shape. We look forward to working with him.”
Le Fondre added:
“I’ve threatened to come up here, north of the border, a few times in my career and it’s nice to do it now.
“The size of the Club was instrumental for me choosing Hibs, and playing in Europe was a key factor as well.
“I’ve done a lot in my career, playing on different continents in different competitions - now to get this chance was something I couldn’t turn down.”
HIBS-MAD VIEW
It's good to see the Le Fondre to Hibs rumours finally come true after all these years!!!
Seriously though, this could be a good move from Hibs, he has tons of experience, and it could help the likes of Elias Melkersen working with a natural goalscorer everyday.
Perfect example, the way Grant Holt pushed Jason Cummings futher.
Hibs will still be out to replce Nisbet, but to have Le Fondre in the squad will be a bonus.
Welcome to the club Adam.
