Hibs boss Alan Stubbs today moved to make the shock signing of left full back Adam Eckersley.
The 30-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Hearts during the summer transfer window.
Eckersley has signed a short term, six month, deal at Easter Road.
Speaking to the official club website, the former Man Utd trainee said:
“I’m delighted to have signed for Hibs.
“We have a strong squad here and I’ll be working hard to push myself into the manager’s plans.
“I know I can do well here and am looking forward to helping the team in the coming months.”
Head Coach Alan Stubbs added: “We’re very pleased to have Adam join the club.
“He strengthens our defensive options and adds to the competition for places in defence.
“He has shown his ability at this level in the past and I’m confident he’ll make a positive contribution here.”
A signing out of the blue from the Hibees, especially when you consider Eckersley said earlier in the window that he wouldn't sign for Hibs.
It will, however, give much needed competition to Lewis Stevenson at left back.
Welcome to Hibs Adam.
