According to reports in today’s tabloids, Hibs are set to swoop for Inverness Caledonian striker Adam Rooney. The 22-year-old Irish hitman is out-of-contract in the summer, and Inverness have already turned down a £100,000 bid from Russian side Kuban Krasnodar. Other clubs including Swiss side Young Boys and a number of English sides are also monitoring his situation. Hibs boss Colin Calderwood is keen to bolster his miss-firing forward line, with only Derek Riordan, who has scored 7 goals this season, having hit the target. Rooney has scored 14 goals for Inverness and would be a quality addition to a struggling Hibs side, which badly needs an injection of new blood in the squad. It’s thought a bid of around £200,000 should secure the players services. Rooney signed for the Caley Jags from English Premiership side Stoke City, and had previous loan spells with Bury and Chesterfield.
