New Hibs boss John Hughes is tonight on the verge of securing his first signing at Easter Road.
Out-of-contract Falkirk midfielder Patrick Cregg is set to sign a one-year deal to join the Hibees.
23-year-old Cregg was signed by Hughes from Premiership giants Arsenal in 2006, he made two appearances for the Gunners, both coming in the English League Cup.
Cregg became a permanent fixture in the Falkirk first team, He did however drop in and out the side last season as the Bairns struggled to find form and stave off relegation.
The Ireland U21 international has played over 100 games for Falkirk and his signing should be announced in the next couple of days.
Hibs are also being heavily linked with his Falkirk team-mate, goalkeeper Dani Mallo, who is also out of contract in the coming days.
The 30-year-old Spanish keeper has already revealed that he would jump at the chance of a move to Easter Road.
