It's been revealed tonight that Hibs are closing in on the signing of Dinamo Zagreb defender Marijan Cabraja.
The Hibees have agreed a deal with his club that will see the 25-year-old move on a free transfer and Zagreb to hold a sell-on clause in any future move away from Edinburgh.
Cabraja is a direct replacement for 20-year-old Josh Doig, who is on the verge of a £3.25m move to Italian side Hellas Verona, having travelled to Italy to discuss terms after saying his goodbyes to team-mates at East Mains on Friday.
The left-back came through the youth system at Zagreb and played over 50 times for the B side.
His form seen him earn a move to fellow Croat side Gorica, where he spent three seasons, playing over 70 games.
Dinamo Zagreb came calling again, and he resigned for his boyhood club in 2021, but has only managed 8 games, and has been loaned out to both Ferencvaros in Hungary and NK Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia.
The Hibees are expected to confirm the deal in the coming days, with reports suggesting it will be on a three-year-deal.
He was previously linked with a move to Rangers and has been capped by Croatia all the way from U14 to U21 level.
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
We don't know much about the lad, but he seems to have good pedigree, and it's good to see the club is not hanging round over the imminent loss of Josh Doig.
Cabraja is at a decent age at 25, and will bring decent experience to the side, having played in a few countries already.
If the deal is done, it'l be the 10th summer signing at Easter Road.
