Hibs are closing in on the signing of Benfica B winger Jair Tavares according to the Edinburgh Evening News.
The Hibees had been linked with the 21-year-old yesterday and it seems they have beaten off interest from Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles to sign him.
Tavares is apparently in Edinburgh today to undergo his medical ahead of a move to Easter Road.
He is under contract at the Estadio da Luz until 2024, and so far it's unclear how much the Hibees will pay to land the player.
Tavares is a left winger who can also play on the other flank, as well as through the middle, and is descirbed as a "speed merchant".
He has played for Portugal at U16, 17, 18 and 19 level.
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
A very exciting singing this one.
The Hibees have lacked real pace up front since the £3m sale of Martin Boyle to Saudi Arabia.
Tavares looks a real prospect and seems to fit the blueprint Hibs are following for signings just now, young, exciting and on the fringes at international level.
Let's hope we can get this one over the line.
