It has been revealed tonight that Hibs boss Pat Fenlon is keen on keeping goalkeeper Mark Brown at Easter Road.
Brown, 31, is out-of-contract this summer, and looked to be heading out the exit door this summer.
The former Rangers, Celtic and Motherwell keeper had been No.2 to Graham Stack for most of the season until Stack tore a thigh muscle during the Hibees Scottish Cup Semi Final win over Aberdeen in April.
Brown stepped in to the breach for 4 of the last 5 SPL games as well as the Scottish Cup Final defeat to Hearts.
According to Stack he was promised a new deal with the Hibees, but Fenlon pulled the plug, and has instead decided he would like to keep Brown and add another keeper to the squad to challenge him.
Former player Kevin Drinkell, Brown's agent, said:
“Mark met with Pat Fenlon last week. Pat told Mark that he wants to keep him and that he wanted the club to offer him a new contract.
“We are currently in talks with Hibs and we will see what develops over the coming days. There is a bit of interest in Mark because he is a proven SPL keeper and has played at the highest level, with Rangers, Celtic and also in the Champions League. Mark, however, has enjoyed his time at Hibs. I certainly wouldn’t expect Mark to be short of options.”
