Hibs have this afternoon announced that they have sacked manager Lee Johnson.
In a not so surprising move the Hibees have relieved the former Sunderland and Bristol City manager of his duties at Easter Road.
A statement has been posted on the official club website that reads.
Hibernian FC can confirm that that Lee Johnson has departed the Club as First Team Manager.
Jamie McAllister and Adam Owen have also left with immediate effect.
Chief Executive Ben Kensell commented:
“The Club has taken the tough decision to relieve Lee Johnson of his duties following a disappointing start to the domestic campaign.
“We wish Lee and his coaching staff all the best for the future and thank them for their efforts.”
David Gray will take charge of the First Team as Caretaker Manager for the immediate future, and be supported by Stuart Garden.
No further comment will be made at this time.
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW
It was the correct decision.
We have been awful in the league this season, and using Europe as the excuse is off the mark.
Johnson looked like he was running out of ideas, and when you lose the support, which he did on Saturday, it is always the end.
The Hibs board need to get the next one right, we have a squad of good players, having spent a good amount of money, and any manager worth his salt would have this team firing
The only downside is it's happened with less than a week left of the transfer window, as we could really do with a few more signings.
Good luck to Lee and his staff and thanks for your efforts.
