Hibs have announced that they have released Algerian international Abdel Zarabi.

Zarabi, 28, arrived at Easter Road in February from French club FC Gueugnon in a £100,000 deal as Mixu re-built the Hibees squad.

The Hibees are also set to lose influential french midfielder Guillaume Beuzelin, as he ponders a move to England, with West Brom and Coventry City in the hunt for his signature.

Zarabi initially signed a three-and-a-half year deal at Hibs, but has now been deemed surplus to requirements by Hibs manager Mixu Paatelainen.

Speaking to the official website - www.hibernianfc.co.uk - Mixu said:

"Abdel is an experienced player and he has been released to join the preparations of his national team. Thereafter he will be returning to France as a free agent to find a new club. We wish him and his family well."

The left sided defender becomes the latest player to be released by Mixu, with a number of players heading for the exit.

Keegan Ayre, Patrick Noubissie, Mickael Antoine-Curier and Dermot McCaffrey have all recently left Easter Road, former Ajaccio defender Zarabi becomes the latest Casualty.
