Hibs midfielder Tom Taiwo has revealed that he is hoping to land a new deal, just weeks after it looked like he was on his way out of the club.
The 23-year-old was reported to have been told he could find a new club in January, but due to a number of injuries in midfield, the former Carlisle man has found himself back in the side.
Kevin Thomson, Owain Tudur-Jones and Scott Robertson have all picked up injuries in the last few weeks, that has seen Taiwo start the last three games, and score his first goal of the season on Saturday against Ross County.
Speaking to Hibs TV, Taiwo revealed that he is hoping he can change manager Terry Butcher's mind, and extend his stay in Edinburgh.
He said:
"I got a chance through injuries and suspensions and hopefully, through my goal at the weekend and a couple of half-decent performances, I have put myself back in the manager's plans.
"It's mad. Obviously we have got a lot of central midfield players here and quality ones at that.
"I was shocked to see so many dwindle in terms of fitness and availability and getting an opportunity wasn't something that looked very easy to come by before the last couple of weeks.
"Everyone is fighting for a contract and everyone is fighting to show the manager what they can do.
"I just want to play games and hopefully get us into the top six and see what happens from there."
