Hibs midfielder Kyle Magennis close to Kilmarnock move

Last updated : 16 June 2023 By Steve Forbes

According to Sky Sports this evening, Hibs midfielder Kyle Magennis is on the verge of a move to Kilmarnock.

The 24-year-old is expected to join the Ayrshire side on a permanent deal next week.

Magennis joined the Hibees in a £400,000 deal, on a 5-year-contract from St Mirren in 2020, but his time at Easter Road has been ruined by injury.

He has struggled with knee and groin injuries, and has only managed 13 games, for two seasons running now, and only 49 since signing for the club.

The former St Mirren player started the 2021-22 season in fine form, and there was calls for him to be included in the Scotland squad, but he has been absolutely hammered by injury since.

It now seems Hibs have thrown in the towel and will let the talented Glaswegian leave this summer.

Any deal will surely include a fee, with the player still having two years left on his contract.

HIBS-MAD VIEW

We've mixed feelings with this one.

When on form and fit, Magennis is a possible Scotland player, he is THAT good.

However his injury record in 3 seasons with Hibs is shocking, and he will be on a big wage and Lee johnson could use this elsewhere..

It's maybe better for fresh starts for both parties.

We wait and see if this happens.
